Nerd or Die + Live Subtitles
Great overlays deserve
to be understood worldwide.
Nerd or Die builds some of the cleanest animated overlays and stream packages in the industry. What it doesn't build is speech recognition or live translation. StreamTranslate adds a subtitle layer that sits on top of your Nerd or Die setup transparently — no design work, no conflicts, no changes to your existing scene.
No downloads. No API keys. Works with any browser source compatible software.
The Short Answer
Both tools are browser sources in OBS or Streamlabs. They live on separate layers. Your Nerd or Die overlay stays exactly as designed — StreamTranslate sits above it as a transparent subtitle layer. When you go live, your spoken words appear as captions in whichever languages you configured.
ℹ What Nerd or Die Provides (and What It Doesn't)
Nerd or Die is a streaming creative studio. It produces high-quality animated alert boxes, stream overlays, panels, and starting/ending screens — all configurable via browser sources in OBS. Like all overlay providers, it operates at the visual design layer, not the audio layer. Speech recognition, live captions, and translation require a dedicated tool that operates on your microphone audio — which is exactly what StreamTranslate does.
How to Add Subtitles Alongside Nerd or Die Overlays
Setup — 60 seconds
- Go to streamtranslate.live and create your overlay. Choose language, translation, font, and position.
- Copy your unique overlay URL.
- In OBS or Streamlabs, add a new Browser Source. Paste your StreamTranslate URL. Set to 1920×1080.
- Place the StreamTranslate layer above your Nerd or Die overlay layers in the scene stack so captions appear on top.
- Go live. Captions render transparently over your scene — your Nerd or Die design is untouched.

Common Questions
Will StreamTranslate cover my Nerd or Die alerts?
Not if positioned correctly. StreamTranslate renders only the subtitle text area — the rest of the frame is fully transparent. Place it in the lower third (or wherever your alerts are not) and your Nerd or Die alerts show through clearly above or beside it.
Can I match the caption font to my Nerd or Die design?
Yes. StreamTranslate's font, size, color, background, and border are all configurable. You can match the aesthetic of your Nerd or Die overlay package or keep a distinct caption style — your choice.
Does this work with Nerd or Die's animated overlays?
Yes. All Nerd or Die overlays are browser sources, and they work exactly the same as before. StreamTranslate is an independent browser source layer that doesn't interact with or affect any other browser source in your scene.
What languages does StreamTranslate support?
30+ languages — Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, German, Italian, and more. All included with no API key management.
