The 4-Step Process
StreamTranslate handles the full pipeline from your microphone to your viewers seeing translated subtitles — all in under 500ms.
- 1. Capture: StreamTranslate listens to your microphone via your browser or the OBS browser source session
- 2. Transcribe: Your speech is transcribed using AI speech recognition (multiple providers for redundancy)
- 3. Translate: The transcribed text is translated into your target language using Azure, Google, or Amazon translation engines
- 4. Display: The translated caption appears on your stream overlay within 500ms — burned into the frame all viewers see
The OBS Browser Source
StreamTranslate displays captions on your stream via an OBS browser source. This is a standard OBS feature that renders a URL as an overlay layer on your stream.
- You add a browser source in OBS and paste your StreamTranslate URL
- The browser source renders as a transparent overlay on your scene
- Captions appear in the overlay in real time as you speak
- The overlay is visible in your OBS preview and in the final stream
Speech Recognition
