Privacy Policy

How StreamTranslate collects, uses, and protects your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service:

  • Email address — collected during account creation to identify your account and send essential service communications.
  • Browser fingerprint — a non-identifying hash used solely for tracking free trial usage limits. This is not linked to your personal identity.

2. Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number, CVV, or billing details. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

3. Audio Processing

During active streaming sessions, your microphone audio is sent in real time to Deepgram for speech-to-text transcription. Audio data is processed in-flight and is not stored by StreamTranslate or retained after the streaming session ends.

4. Translation

Transcribed text is sent to the Google Translate API to generate real-time translations. The text is processed on-demand and is not stored by StreamTranslate after the translation is delivered to your stream overlay.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. This may collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using a browser extension or adjusting your browser settings.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

StreamTranslate does not use third-party cookies. We store session tokens in your browser's localStorage to keep you signed in. No advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies are placed on your device.

7. Data Retention

Your account data (email address and usage records) is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our systems. Transient data such as audio and translated text is never persisted beyond the active streaming session.

8. Third-Party Services

StreamTranslate integrates the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties for marketing purposes.

9. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
  • Opt-out of sale — we do not sell personal data. California residents (CCPA) have this right by default.

10. Children's Privacy

StreamTranslate is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their data, please contact us immediately.

11. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure database storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of StreamTranslate after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
