What source metadata means

A video file can contain descriptive fields such as a title, author, location or chapters, separate from the picture and sound. These fields vary by source. ClipLab creates a new MP4 export and removes source descriptive metadata and chapters during that process.

What stays in the export

Essential MP4 format and playback tags remain. The picture and audio are encoded into the new output with the original frame fitted over blurred background fill. Text, logos and watermarks already visible in the video are part of the picture; they are not removed. ClipLab adds its own small StreamTranslate watermark.

Public-link cleanup, not arbitrary uploads

Start from a supported public recorded video on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook or Vimeo. This workflow does not accept arbitrary local files for metadata-only cleaning. It also changes the layout to 1080 × 1920 portrait, so it is not a lossless metadata-only editor.

Cleanup does not promise algorithm benefits

Removing file tags does not guarantee anonymity, ownership or improved platform reach. It cannot erase information spoken aloud or shown on screen, make reused footage original, or bypass TikTok eligibility rules. Treat metadata cleanup as one step in preparing the file, then review its visible content separately.

How to get started

  1. Copy a supported public video URL for a recording up to five minutes and 200 MB.
  2. Paste it in Clip Downloader and create a portrait job.
  3. Download the new MP4 and check its picture, audio and remaining technical tags before sharing.

Free · 10 requests per hour per IP address · Up to 3 clips processing across the service. Ready downloads remain available for 30 minutes. Public-link availability depends on the source platform; private, live and restricted videos are unsupported. Each export includes a small StreamTranslate watermark.

Common questions

Does this erase every metadata field?

No. Source descriptive metadata and chapters are removed, but technical tags required for MP4 playback remain.

Can I upload an MP4 just to strip metadata?

Not in this tool. ClipLab starts from supported public video links and creates a portrait export.

Does removing metadata make the video anonymous?

No. Faces, spoken names, visible text and other identifying content can remain in the recording.
