World privacy policy
Effective October 15, 2026. This page covers the StreamTranslate World Twitch panel and its companion API. Our general privacy policy covers the StreamTranslate website and other services.
What World receives
Twitch provides a signed channel authorization token, a channel identifier, a role and an extension-scoped opaque participant identifier. World does not request identity linking or your numeric Twitch user ID. It sends active/inactive participation reports while the panel is loaded.
Our infrastructure processes network information, including your IP address, to deliver requests. Where the request arrives through a verified Cloudflare edge, World uses its country-level code for approximate country counts. IP addresses, exact locations and authorization tokens are not stored in World’s in-memory participation records. If a verified edge country is unavailable, World looks up the request IP against a bundled country-only DB-IP database on our own server. No per-viewer IP is sent to DB-IP. Unknown locations remain unknown; VPNs can change the approximate country.
Caption-language companion
When the broadcaster uses StreamTranslate CC, World reads channel-level counts of active caption-language selections reported by that separate extension. It does not expose participant identifiers, caption text, audio, chat messages or private caption-session credentials. Country and caption counts are separate; World does not infer a viewer’s country from their caption language or link identities across the two extensions.
Purpose, display and retention
Participation is used to display live aggregate counts, prevent repeated heartbeats from being counted as new participants and remove inactive entries. Counts describe participating extension sessions, not all Twitch viewers. Country groups smaller than three participants are not displayed separately. Records expire after roughly 75 seconds without a report and are removed during cleanup. They are held in server memory rather than a historical audience database and can reset during a server restart.
Hosting and security infrastructure may process operational logs under the general privacy policy. World’s panel contains no advertising, analytics SDK, payment collection or tracking cookies. We do not sell World participation records or use them for advertising.
Controls
Closing or hiding World sends an inactive report when possible; otherwise the entry expires. Broadcasters can deactivate World in Twitch Extension Manager. Viewers can stop caption participation separately through StreamTranslate CC’s controls. No country-selection form or separate StreamTranslate viewer account is required.
Service providers
Twitch supplies extension authorization and hosts extension assets. StreamTranslate’s hosting infrastructure serves the API, and Cloudflare may supply approximate country metadata and network security. World does not send chat or audio to a translation provider. Offline country fallback uses the DB-IP Country Lite database (October 2026), licensed under CC BY 4.0. IP Geolocation by DB-IP.
