Follow the steps

  1. Install on the OBS machine

Open the IRL Hub, download the current plugin for your operating system, install it and restart OBS. For Cloud OBS, ask your provider to install it on the server that runs OBS.

  2. Copy your own stream key

Open Control → IRL Mode → Cloud OBS / OBS plugin. Choose the language you speak and copy your stream key. Keep it private.

  3. Add the audio filter once

In OBS, open Filters on the microphone or incoming phone source you want captioned. Under Audio Filters, select + → StreamTranslate. Add it once to the intended source.

  4. Connect the filter

Paste your stream key into the filter. If it shows a server field, use the matching server from Control. Do not use your Browser Source link or full RTMP URL as the key.

  5. Choose where captions appear

For Twitch, link your channel and activate the StreamTranslate extension so viewers can choose a language. For captions inside the video, add your separate Browser Source link to OBS.

  6. Check audio, then captions

Keep the website microphone off. If the filter is paused, select Start sending audio. Speak, check its audio status, then verify captions on a second viewer device.

  7. Pause capture when finished

Press Pause sending audio in the filter. Ending the OBS broadcast or hiding the overlay does not pause this feed. Start sending audio resumes it; reopening OBS starts it again.

Quick troubleshooting

Why is the plugin not listed?

Install the current build on the machine that runs OBS and restart OBS. A cloud provider may need to do this for you.

Why does the filter connect but no captions appear?

Audio capture and caption display are separate. Check the intended source and filter status, then verify your extension activation or Browser Source setup.

Does closing Control stop plugin capture?

No. Use Pause sending audio in the OBS filter to pause capture.

Let’s set up the Stream Translate OBS plugin. It sends a copy of your speech for captions while OBS keeps handling your broadcast. Open the IRL Hub and download the current plugin for your operating system. Install it on the machine that actually runs OBS, then restart OBS. For Cloud OBS, ask your provider to install it. In Stream Translate, open Control, choose IRL Mode, then Cloud OBS or OBS plugin. Choose your spoken language and copy your stream key. Keep this key private. In OBS, choose the microphone or incoming phone source you want captioned. Open Filters, click the plus under Audio Filters, and choose Stream Translate. Add it once to the intended source. Paste your own stream key into the filter. Use the matching server from Control if a server field is shown. Do not paste your browser overlay link or a full RTMP URL into the key field. For the Twitch Extension, link your channel and activate the extension so each viewer can choose a language. For captions inside your video, add your Browser Source URL to OBS instead. Keep the browser microphone off. When you are ready to test, use Start sending audio if the filter is paused. Speak and check the filter’s audio status, then verify captions on a second viewer device. To stop caption capture, press Pause sending audio in the filter. Stopping the OBS broadcast or hiding the overlay does not pause that audio feed. Use Start sending audio to resume. Reopening OBS starts it again. That’s the plugin setup. Your audio filter supplies speech, and the extension or browser source displays captions.
