Choose your caption setup

StreamTranslate turns your live speech into translated captions. First choose how your audio reaches us, then choose where viewers see the captions.

What StreamTranslate offers

Captions in your video

Add your private Browser Source link to OBS, Streamlabs, Meld or another supported streaming app. Everyone watching the video sees the caption language and style you choose.

Captions viewers choose

Activate the StreamTranslate Twitch Extension. Each viewer can choose their own caption language without changing the captions shown to other viewers.

How your audio gets to us

Browser microphone

Choose your microphone in Control and start captioning there. Keep that page and microphone capture running. Your Browser Source is the display, not the microphone.

Browser microphone and software setup →

OBS plugin

The StreamTranslate audio filter sends speech from the OBS source you select. Install it on the machine that actually runs OBS, including a receiving cloud OBS.

RTMP sender

Moblin, Larix or another supported encoder sends a separate feed for caption audio. Keep your normal Twitch or other video destination enabled.

Which guide should I use?

I use Streamlabs or Meld. Do I need the OBS plugin?

Use the Browser Source guide to display captions in your software. The OBS plugin is an audio filter specifically for OBS. You can supply speech with the browser microphone or another supported audio route instead.

I stream from a phone. Where do I start?

Choose your app in the IRL Hub. Moblin and Larix can send a caption feed over RTMP. If your phone stream arrives at a home or cloud OBS, the plugin can capture the incoming source there.

Can viewers pick different languages?

Yes, through the Twitch Extension. A Browser Source overlay is part of the video image, so everyone sees the overlay settings you choose.

Does the overlay send audio?

No. Audio capture and caption display are separate. Check both before broadcasting.
