Browser Source Setup for Live Captions
Display live translated captions in OBS, Streamlabs or Meld with your private Browser Source link. Your selected audio source supplies speech separately.
The video demonstrates the OBS workflow. Use the matching instructions below for Streamlabs, Meld or another supported app.
Follow the steps
Open Control
Sign in to StreamTranslate, choose the language you speak and select an audio source. This guide sets up the caption display; it does not supply audio.
Copy your overlay link
Copy your own Browser Source / overlay link from Control. Keep it private.
Add a browser source in your software
OBS: Sources → + → Browser. Streamlabs: Sources → + → Browser Source → Add Source. Meld: Layers → + → Browser, then open the Inspector. Give the source a clear name.
Set the URL and canvas size
Paste the overlay link into the URL field. Set width and height to match your streaming canvas, then select OK.
Position the captions
Move the source or layer so captions will not cover important parts of the stream. Add it to each scene where captions should appear.
Check audio and display separately
Before broadcasting, check your spoken language, audio connection and caption placement. Speak through the selected audio source and verify the result from another device.
Using another streaming app?
StreamElements SE.Live uses the regular OBS Browser source. In XSplit, choose Add Source → Webpage. In PRISM Desktop, choose Sources → + → Browser. The overlay link displays captions; it does not supply microphone audio.

Does the Browser Source capture my microphone?
No. It displays captions. Your selected browser microphone, OBS plugin or RTMP sender supplies speech.
Can Twitch viewers choose a different language from this overlay?
The video overlay is part of the broadcast image. Use the Twitch Extension for viewer-selected caption languages.
Why is the source blank?
Check that the selected audio source is sending speech and that you pasted your own overlay link. Silence alone does not prove a display problem.

Let’s set up Stream Translate captions in OBS. First, sign in to Stream Translate and open your control panel. Choose the language you speak, then choose your audio source. For this walkthrough, we’re setting up a browser-source caption overlay. Copy your own overlay link from the control panel. Keep that link private. In OBS, select the scene where you want captions to appear. Under Sources, click the plus button, choose Browser, and give the source a clear name. Paste your overlay link into the URL field. Set the browser width and height to match your canvas, then click OK. Position the captions where they won’t cover important parts of your stream. Your audio connection and the caption display are separate: the browser source displays captions, while the selected audio source supplies your speech. Before you broadcast, check the source language, audio connection, and caption placement. This recording covers setup only.
