Let more viewers follow your product demo

Walk viewers through a feature while translated captions carry the explanation. Use StreamTranslate with an OBS or Streamlabs software demo, launch stream or live walkthrough, and keep the interface clear enough to follow.

Free Plan: 3 active streaming hours every month. Card required; no payment unless you upgrade.

Build the demo scene

  1. Capture the product

Add the application or browser window to OBS or Streamlabs. Use a demo account and a layout that makes the key controls readable.

  2. Choose the caption languages

Open StreamTranslate Control, choose the host’s spoken language and the subtitle language, then copy your Browser Source URL.

  3. Place the captions

Add a Browser Source, paste the full URL and match your canvas dimensions. Put it above the product capture and reserve space away from menus and buttons.

  4. Check the host microphone

Select Audio Source and run Mic check. Press GO LIVE in Control and keep the tab open for browser-microphone mode. Record a short local rehearsal before broadcasting.

Choose what the captions hear

The simplest setup captions the host’s microphone. Playing a customer interview, product video or remote guest in OBS does not automatically add that audio to a browser-microphone caption session. OBS can hear a source while the selected caption input cannot.

For another audio route, use the supported OBS audio plugin setup and verify the selected feed. Route only the audio you intend to caption, and rehearse transitions between the host and any permitted guest or media audio.

During Q&A, read a text question aloud before answering. A spoken guest question must reach the chosen caption input to appear. This guide does not claim automatic meeting integration, chat transcription or automatic speaker labels.

Plan three useful views

Introduction
Show the host and a short product title. Explain what viewers will learn before the detailed walkthrough.
Demonstration
Give the application the largest area. Keep the caption band away from the cursor, dropdowns and the next action you will click.
Questions
Keep captions visible while you answer. Show the product again when the answer depends on a setting or screen.

Reuse the caption source across these scenes so your explanation stays readable through transitions. If your interface has a bottom toolbar, place the captions elsewhere or reduce the product capture slightly to create a dedicated band.

Rehearse the hard parts

Run the exact sequence viewers will see: introduction, one complete feature demonstration, a scene change and a sample question. Include product names, acronyms, plan names and numbers in the script. Inspect how they appear in the chosen subtitle language.

Record the rehearsal in OBS and review it in a small player. Check that the audience can read both the interface and the captions. Keep important prices, URLs and commands visible on screen; live translated speech should not be their only source.

Pause after a dense explanation and before the next click. Correct a mistaken product term aloud if needed. After the event, stop the caption session in Control as well as ending the broadcast.

Choose a language and enough session time

StreamTranslate supports 65 live languages. Choose the subtitle language for the audience attending your demo and verify that pair during rehearsal. The overlay displays the captions you configure; it does not create a different language track for every viewer.

The official Twitch extension is a separate output for a Twitch broadcast. An OBS overlay is embedded in your outgoing video, including its recording, and does not automatically become a native player CC track.

Free Plan: 3 active streaming hours every month. Card required; no payment unless you upgrade. Starter is $14.99/mo for 25 streaming hours. For an occasional launch, Stream Pass is $12 one-time for 12 hours. Include rehearsal time when choosing a plan, and check all current plans before a longer event.

Questions about product demo captions

Can I use StreamTranslate for an OBS product launch?

Yes. Caption your selected audio input, add the Browser Source above your product capture and rehearse the full launch layout before broadcasting.

Will it caption every person in a video meeting?

Not automatically. The caption session only receives its selected audio input. Remote guest audio needs a supported audio route and a rehearsal; this setup does not add automatic meeting integration or speaker labels.

Can viewers select their own language in an OBS overlay?

The OBS overlay is embedded in the outgoing video and shows the captions you configure. Viewer-specific controls require a separate supported output, such as the official Twitch extension, rather than the embedded overlay.

Do captions appear in an OBS recording?

A visible Browser Source included in the recorded scene is composited into that recording. Check a local sample to confirm visibility and placement. These embedded captions are not a separate editable subtitle track.
