Clips documentation

Translate a video without leaving the conversation.

Request a translation

  1. Open a public video post on X.
  2. Reply directly to that post, mention @StreamTranslate, and name the language you want.
  3. Track the request on the live queue. When it finishes, we reply to your request with the captioned video.
@StreamTranslate translate this to Spanish

Natural wording works too: “make this video Japanese” or simply “@StreamTranslate Turkish.” We detect the spoken language; you specify the language for the translated captions. No download, browser extension, or StreamTranslate login is needed to request a translation on X.

Languages & limits

The Clips page shows the current supported spoken and translation languages, video duration limit, and processing capacity. These can change as we improve the service. A supported language does not guarantee perfect recognition: overlapping speakers, music, dialects, and unclear audio can affect results.

Track your request

  • Queued: your request is waiting for processing capacity.
  • In progress: we are preparing, transcribing, translating, rendering, or delivering the video.
  • Delivered: the reply has been posted. Open the reply link to watch it; X notifications may arrive later.

Use the request-link or post-ID search on the queue page to find your request. Discovery is not instantaneous, and completion time depends on video length and current demand.

Troubleshooting

Check that you replied to a public video post, tagged @StreamTranslate, and named a supported language. Protected or unavailable videos cannot be processed. Requests can also be blocked by video limits, service capacity, API limits, or processing failures. Contact [email protected] with your request link if you need help.

Your translated video

We add translated subtitles to the video; we do not dub the voice. Caption placement and timing are automated and can occasionally need correction. Keep the original recording as the source of truth.

Privacy & removal

Requests and completed replies are public on X. Only request material you are entitled to use, and avoid private or sensitive information. See Clips privacy for processing, storage, and removal details.

Reply @StreamTranslate STOP to opt out of future processing. Opting out does not automatically delete earlier replies. For removal requests, email [email protected] with the relevant post URL.
