Studio tool guide

Which streaming tools can you use for free?

StreamTranslate's Twitch clip tracker, portrait video downloader and Chat Translator browser extension are free tools. The live-caption Free Plan is different: it includes 3 active hours per month and requires a card. Recorded-video translation is paid separately. Studio labels these options so you can choose before signing up.

Start with the task, not a subscription

You do not need to activate every streaming feature to use one free tool. In StreamTranslate Studio, choose what you have in front of you: a Twitch channel to track, a public video to reformat, written chat to read or spoken audio to caption.

Free does not mean unlimited or supported for every link. A tool can be free while still having file limits, platform restrictions or a required browser extension. Those requirements are different from a paid membership.

Follow a channel's newest available Twitch clips

The Twitch clip tracker accepts a Twitch channel name and lists its newest available clips. No account is required. It refreshes while active, subject to Twitch availability and API limits.

Use it when you already know the channel you want to follow. Tracking does not create a highlight, download a video or translate its speech. Open and review a clip first, then move to the separate downloader or subtitle tool if you need an export.

Make a portrait MP4 without cropping the full picture

The portrait video downloader turns supported public recorded-video links into a 1080 × 1920 MP4 with blurred background fill. The original picture remains visible rather than being cropped to follow a face.

The free downloader currently accepts recordings up to 5 minutes and 200 MB, with 10 requests per hour per IP and up to 3 concurrent jobs across the service. Ready downloads remain available for 30 minutes. Public links can still fail because of platform access restrictions; private, live and unavailable videos are unsupported.

The output includes a small StreamTranslate watermark. Formatting and metadata cleanup do not remove visible source watermarks or grant rights to repost another person's video.

Read live chat in another language

Chat Translator is a free desktop browser extension for Twitch, TikTok LIVE, YouTube, Kick and X live chat. No StreamTranslate account, paid caption plan or personal translation API key is required.

Pick the language you want to read, then choose in-place or alongside-original display. The extension can translate your reply draft before you send it. It works on written chat, not the stream's speech or the platforms' mobile apps. Google handles the text translation, so delays or temporary unavailability are possible.

The Free live-caption Plan has different requirements

For spoken audio, the Free Plan includes 3 active streaming hours each month, 65 caption languages and one translated subtitle language on screen. A card is required to activate the plan; there is no payment unless you choose to upgrade.

Follow the setup for your audio route, complete the required account and card steps, allow microphone access when the browser asks, and test a first caption. Installing the Twitch extension or downloading the free OBS audio plugin is not a substitute for an active caption session.

The plugin download is free, but caption processing still uses your plan or account hours. Video and VOD translation is a different product at $0.50 to start plus $0.01 per second, with a five-second minimum, not an included unlimited Free Plan feature.

Choose one useful first step

If you are finding material, start with the tracker. If you already have a short supported video link, start with the downloader. If you watch streams in another language, start with Chat Translator. If you need spoken captions for your own broadcast, follow the caption setup guide.

The Studio guide keeps setup and pricing questions in one place. For an end-to-end recorded-video example, follow finding a clip, exporting portrait video and adding subtitles.

Common questions

Does every free StreamTranslate tool require a card?

No. Chat Translator and the Twitch clip tracker do not require a StreamTranslate account. The separate Free live-caption Plan requires a card and includes 3 active hours per month.

Are translated video subtitles included in the free downloader?

No. The downloader formats supported public videos. Uploaded-video translation is a separate pay-as-you-go tool costing $0.50 to start plus $0.01 per second, with a five-second minimum.

Does Studio replace OBS or my streaming platform?

No. Studio helps you find StreamTranslate's caption, clip and translation tools. You keep your existing broadcasting software and streaming platform.
