Recorded clip workflow

Add readable translated captions to your Twitch clips

A Twitch clip often starts in the middle of a joke, a reaction or a fast conversation. Its captions need to preserve that context while fitting a small screen. Work from a recorded clip you own or have permission to use, then check the words and placement before sharing the finished video.

Upload your recorded clip to StreamTranslate’s Video & VOD Translator, choose the spoken language and up to three subtitle tracks, preview the styling, then review and download the subtitled result. This recorded-video tool is separate from live captions and is billed separately.

Prepare a clean clip and a useful opening

Choose the section that contains the complete thought, not only the loudest reaction. Listen for the beginning and ending of the sentence. If the clip starts after a name or context-setting phrase, the translation may be harder to understand even when every remaining word is recognized correctly.

Use a recorded video file supported by the tool, such as MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Keep a copy of the original. Captions already burned into that original cannot simply be turned off like a subtitle track, so inspect the frame before adding another layer.

Choose the translation and optional subtitle files

  1. Open the Video & VOD Translator and upload the recorded clip.
  2. Select the whole clip or the portion you want processed.
  3. Set the spoken language and add the desired subtitle language tracks.
  4. Adjust the font, color and placement in the preview.
  5. If you need separate SRT, VTT and transcript files, select the subtitle-file option before processing.
  6. Review the displayed price and start the translation.

The recorded-video tool supports 60 subtitle languages. That is a different scope from the 65 languages offered for live captions.

Place text for the destination screen

Use the phone overlay guides in the editor to judge placement, then inspect the result on a phone at normal size. Platform interfaces vary, so a guide is a starting point rather than a guarantee that every button and description will stay clear.

Keep captions away from a face, the key gameplay action and any source subtitles you still need. A longer translation may wrap differently from the original language. If you need a portrait crop, make that composition decision deliberately and recheck the text after the crop; subtitles should not be the only reason a subject disappears out of frame.

Review the lines that change the meaning

Play the finished clip once with audio and once with the sound off. Check streamer handles, game terminology, negations, numbers and the punchline. A line that is grammatically neat can still miss sarcasm or a reference the audience needs.

Check the first and last words at every cut. Make sure the caption remains visible long enough to read and does not reveal a reaction before it happens. If a correction requires editing the wording or timing outside the available tool controls, use the subtitle files in an appropriate editor rather than publishing a known error.

Download, inspect and keep a reusable copy

Download the finished subtitled video and any subtitle files you selected. The processed video remains available for up to seven days, so save your deliverables rather than treating the job page as permanent storage.

Open the downloaded file, check that it is the correct language version and confirm the beginning and ending play properly. Then inspect a draft upload in the destination platform before publishing. The tool creates translated subtitles; it does not replace the original voice, clone a speaker or automatically establish permission to repost the clip.

Quick answers

Can I paste a Twitch URL instead of uploading a file?

This guide uses the verified recorded-file upload workflow. Obtain an authorized video file first rather than assuming every Twitch URL can be imported directly.

Are these captions included in my live-stream plan?

Recorded-video translation is billed separately. Review the price shown for the selected video duration before processing.

Can I download editable subtitle files?

Select the subtitle-file option before processing if you want SRT, VTT and a written transcript alongside the subtitled video.
